Christmas Dinner and Raffle

Well – the weather only cooperated to a point and beyond that point it was a bit… interesting!  But we managed, and the meal did not disappoint!  Thank you to Maffra Spit-Roast for a delicious hassle-free dinner.

After our meal, Brian acknowledged the State swimmers who begin their campaign this weekend.  RULE THE POOL!  He also thanked coach Georgia Collings who will finish up in her coaching role for Traralgon this month.  Georgia will be unable to continue coaching as she has taken on additional responsibility in her job as a primary school teacher for 2016.  Georgia has been a Traralgon coach for several seasons and we thank her and wish her well.

Brian also acknowledged Connor O’Neill whose last meet for us will be States.  Connor has gained a scholarship to TSS Aquatic and the Southport School on the Gold Coast.  We congratulate him wish Connor great success.  Another swimmer who is ‘going places’ is multi-class swimmer Emily Beecroft.  Emily is in Bismarck, North Dakota in the United States as  part of an Australian contingent participating in the U.S. Paralympics Swimming Can-Am Open (click here for details) over December 10-12.  We will watch for Emily’s results with interest as she endeavours to qualify for Australian selection on further representative teams.

We thank Michael and Robyn Mihaly and Heather Haney who were there passing out Jx and new member packs from SVI (I think that’s what they were…) and dad’s tee shirts and Traralgon caps (great caps!)… and I believe there were hoodies there too (thank you Carole).

And then there was the raffle.  It was a pleasure to announce that over this year the newly-formed fundraising committee has earned over $9,000 for the club.  That is AWESOME!  Such a lot of hard work and enthusiasm from the committee – and so well embraced by our families.  The Christmas raffle alone earned $3,385.00  Huge effort!

The Tierney and Cargill families each sold 21 books of tickets to win free training sessions with our own Can Juha.  Well done – and thank you, Cam!
