“Andrew Cameron” Country Squad

The “Andrew Cameron” Country  Squad is for those swimmers who, according to the Coaching Panel, have progressed with technique, fitness and work ethic beyond the Gippy Squad and are seeking to qualify for the Victorian Country Championships.

The Country Squad is named for Andrew Cameron, the first recipient of the Charles Ford Scholarship in 2004.  Andrew, who was a National swimmer and now at 27 one of our valued club physiotherapists, continues to return to the club to compete at the Country Championships annually.  When studying in Melbourne Andrew became a Melbourne Vic Centre swimmer where he was Team captain and the bronze medallist in the 200m butterfly at the 2012 Australian Short Course Championships.

Swimmers are required to complete all sessions available for the week with the aim to develop quality in all four strokes sufficient for the Victorian Country Championships and competing in the Individual Medley in the Gippsland Championships. Swimmers must compete for the Club at Gippsland meets and qualify and compete at Gippsland Championships. If qualified for Country Championships they must also compete.

4 x Swim and 2 Strength & Conditioning sessions per week.
