“Maggie O’Keefe” Gippy Squad

“MAGGIE O’KEEFE” GIPPY SQUAD

Swimmers progress from the Junior Development Squad to the Gippy Squad upon advice from the Coaching Panel.  Swimmers will further develop their Strength and Conditioning and enhance their swimming and race skills learnt from the Junior Development Squad. Body position, technique and discipline surrounded by great effort are the hallmark of this squad.

The Gippy Squad is named for former team captain and National swimmer, Maggie O’Keefe.  Maggie came up through the ranks in the Traralgon Club beginning as an 8 year old in 2006.  A champion freestyle swimmer, Maggie is a great example of leadership, effort and sportsmanship.

Swimmers in this Squad must compete in the local Gippsland competition both in the Winter/Spring (June – September) and Summer (October – March) meets. Participation is required in 2 Winter/Spring and a minimum of 5 Summer meets which will qualify the swimmer for Gippsland Championships and a Club Trophy at Presentation Night. The participation in All Junior competition in February – March 2016 is also a compulsory requirement.  If qualified for Country Championships swimmers must also compete.

3 x Swim,  2 Strength & Conditioning Sessions per week.
