The Traralgon Swimming club will have 17 swimmers representing the team at the upcoming National Open and Age championships to be held in Adelaide.
Multi Class swimmers, Olympian and Commonwealth Games representative 19 year old Emily Beecroft, and 15 year old Ruby Storm will join girls captain Bridget Cain at the Open Championships. Emily and Ruby will be vying for a position on the Australian World Championships team and Bridget will be seeking a finals position at her first meet at Open level.
At the Age Championships brother and sister combination Jordyn (14) and
Molly Cargill (13) will have 21 events between them with Jordyn’s best
opportunity in the 400 metre Individual medley where he is seeded 3rd and
Molly in the 50 metre Freestyle where she is seeded in the top 10. The Club
has 7 first time qualified swimmers, its largest batch of newcomers for many years.
Head Performance Coach, Dean Gooch is looking forward to the meets.
“Nationals is the last major meet for the season after a year of preparation, planning, training and competing. It is a great reward for each swimmer’s efforts in and out of the pool and we look forward to how each comes up against the best in Australia. We have a team of well prepared swimmers and hope to return with some great results, perhaps a medal or two and potential selection on major teams.”
Opens commences on Sunday 7th April to Friday 12th April, 2019 with Age
Championships from Monday 15th to Monday 22nd April, 2019.
