The third annual Duel in the Pool was a huge success with 178 swimmers dressing up, cheering loud and proud and racing for glory at the Morwell Leisure Centre.

The day started with Academy, Target and Camp 21 squads involved in lectures and pool sessions.  7 time medallist at the recent Junior World Championship and Melbourne Vicentre swimmer, Mack Horton was one of the guest presenters as part of the Go Club program.   Leah Fogarty, Director of Between the Ears Personal & Professional Psychology also spoke to athletes about mental strategies and life balance.

Following the Go Club presentations and camp sessions, four colourful teams gathered on pool deck for some serious swimming.  There was never very much between teams with the Green team proving dominant in Butterfly and Backstroke and the Yellow team taking out the Breaststroke and Freestyle.  Blue and Orange were never far behind, and prior to the last relay of the day, the trophy could have gone to three teams!  Orange won the day with excellent results in all “special” events.  A highlight of the day was the ‘skins’ event where 8 swimmers each in 13 & Under boys and girls and 14 & over boys and girls competed over 25m freestyle until, after 6 rounds only 2 swimmers remained in each event.  Determination, speed and stamina are required to shine in skins where the Orange team placed first in 3 of the 4 events.
