Traralgon Swimming Club News

Last year  – No Trophies! This year we won the Australia Day Cup Perpetual Highest Aggregate Team
points Award for the Club achieving the most points on the day of Countries closest to the 26th January, the Napthine Shield Women Team Points Aggregate, as well as finishing 2nd in the Men’s award and Overall Points Score what we believe was by 4 points – A MIGHTY EFFORT!

Because it was such a close result let me clarify a couple of points with scoring matters which have been asked and are important.

(a ) Visiting Swimmers – they can win medals and are awarded the points for the place they finish in the final.

(b) Victorian Swimmers – they will receive Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for Victorians and the points specific to the place they finish in the final. For example if a Visitor finishes 3rd the Visitor gets a Bronze and points for 3rd.  If a Victorian finishes 4th  in the same race that swimmer also gets the Bronze medal however they get points only for 4th place.

(c ) If a Swimmer does not achieve the qualifying time in a final – the swimmer is unable to win a medal however they will receive the points for the position they finish in the final.

Points Score

Due to the closeness of the result and that a protest in one of the relays is still pending the final points score has not been released.

Trophies have been awarded and we will announce the final points for Girls, Boys and Overall when they are complete.
