Five Traralgon Swimmers competed during the week in Adelaide at the Australian School Swimming Sports. Mikaela Cornelissen (15), Caiden Gill (15), Taylah Da Ros(15), Locke DeGaris (13) and Chance Doultree(11) competed for the Victorian team and had some fantastic swims.
Mikaela was the most successful winning 3 Gold and 1 Silver medal, breaking 1 Country and 8 Out of Gippsland (OOG) records:
50 Fly – 27.46 (Gold) – 16/u Years OOG Record
100 Fly – 1.00.97 (Gold) – 14/15 Years Country, 16/u years and Open OOG Record
50 Back – 30.35 – 16/u Years and Open OOG Record
100 Back – 1.04.51 (Silver) – 16/u years and Open OOG Record, 14/15 Years Country Record
50 Free – 26.69 (Gold)
Caiden Gill won Silver in the 50 Free and broke the 16/u Years OOG record in the Heat (24.50) and again in the Final (24.48).
Taylah Da Ros made finals in the 50 Back, 50 Fly and I00 Fly. Locke DeGaris made finals in the 50 Free and 100 Free and qualified to swim at the Australian Age Championships in Sydney next April with his time in the 50 Free – 27.19. Caiden and Mikaela have also qualified with their swims during the week.
Finally Chance Doultree swam in the 50 and 100 Breast finaling in both and swimming Personal Best times.
