The 2019 Optus Victorian Long Course Championships were held at MSAC from Dec 7 – 11. We congratulate the Traralgon team of 27 individual swimmers and 8 relays swimmers who achieved the club goal of finishing top country club and in the top 10 over all. Congratulations to our swimmers, coaches and parents!

Day I of the Victorian Age Championships finished with 10 final swims (Bridget Cain, Aidan Bell, Melina de Cort, Joel Baillie & 1 Relay x 1, Molly Cargill x 2, Jordyn Cargill x 3); 2 new National swimmers – Aidan (15 years 100 breast) & Joel (14 years 400 IM); 1 gold (14 years 400 IM) & 1 silver (14 years 200 free) to Jordyn plus an Out of Gippsland record in the IM (4.42.46). A very good day indeed!
Day 2 of the Victorian Age Championships and we had 7 finalists (Jordyn Cargill x 2; Molly Cargill, Paige McLennan, Bridget Cain, Mia Nippers & Relay x 1). Jordyn won a silver in the 14 years 200 breast and bronze in the 100 fly. Another good night of racing by the team. Day 3 tomorrow with the 50 free timed finals, relays and 1500’s.
Day 3 of the Victorian Age Championships and we picked up 5 top 10 finals finishes (Jordyn Cargill – 50 free 25.74, Molly Cargill 50 free 28.06 (4th by 0.1), Bridget Cain 1500 free and 2 relays). Well done to the 14-15 year old boys 4 x 50 medley team who swam a National qualifying time of 1.58.96.Congratulations Jordyn Cargill – Back 29.96, Aidan Bell – breast 32.51, Will Pendergast- fly 29.70 and Logan Archibald – free 26.09 on your achievement.
Day 4 of the Victorian Age Championships was a big night for the Club with 15 finals (Jordyn Cargill, MollyCargill,Bridget Cain x3, Melina de Cort, Zoe Dowler, Joel Baillie, Abby Warner, Paige McLennan & relay x 1); 2 silver and 1 bronze to Jordyn & 1 silver to Molly; one new National Age time to Joel in the 14 years 400 free and 2 Out of Gippsland records to Jordyn (14 years 400 free -4.15.47 & 200 fly – 2.16.59). Day 5 tomorrow is the final day and we look forward to some more outstanding swims.
Day 5 and final day of the Victorian Championships resulted in 9 finals (Jordyn Cargill x 3, Molly Cargill & relays x 2, Neisha Ablett and Aidan Bell x 1) and 2 bronzes to Jordyn in the 200 back and IM.
From a team viewpoint the Club finished 10th Victorian Club and top Country Club-the 20th successive States this has been achieved.
Individually Jordyn Cargill was awarded the 14 year old male champion with his outstanding performance of winning 10 medals in his 12 events entered.
