Emily has just competed in the US at the 2015 US Para Championships in Bismarck. Emily was in a team of four athletes; two Paralympians and another swimmer that had been long listed for Rio also. All athletes were being reviewed internationally with their classification as an S9. Emily was accompanied by Adam Pine- Performance Manager, Daniella Formosa -Team Manager, Keren Faulkner-Physio and Coach- Rick Van der Zant
Emily was internationally classified at the championships, taking part in a two part assessment which consisted of a physical assessment and then observation in all strokes to determine the impairment her disability has on each stroke. Confirmation has been received that Emily has been classified as an S9 SB9(Breast) and SM9(Medley). Below is a summary of the events.
100m Fly – Prelim-Placed 3rd 1:15.06 Finals-Placed 2nd 1:13.03 PB
50m Free – Prelim-Placed 2nd Finals-Placed 2nd 30.74
100 Free – Prelim-Placed 2nd 1:08.31 Finals Placed 2nd 1:06.67 PB
100 Breast – Prelim- Placed 2nd 1:35.80 Finals- Emily did not swim this final as Classifiers had made their decision about classification and it was not required for her to continue since Breast is not her main stroke. At this Championships there were Preliminary heats and finals. However medals and points were only given to 1st place.
