The Club held the Annual Presentation evening at the Premier Function Room on Saturday May 13.  The event was attended by approximately 200 parents, swimmers, coaches and Life Members.  Jackie Madden, President of Gippsland Swimming, was also in attendance.

Club President Jane Mitchell, presiding over the Presentation formalities for the 19th year, recapped the 2016/17 season month by month recalling competition results, clinics and camps, awards received and club initiatives.  It was another busy, exciting and successful season. She looked forward to the coming season as one of opportunity with the opening of the Ford Swim Centre planned for July, and all the possibilities that presents, and the Latrobe City’s promise of a 50m Indoor pool in the near future.

Club trophies, Age group winners, most improved swimmers, Coach’s Awards and other special trophies were awarded during the night which included a delicious dinner provided by the Premier Function Room.

Club Captains, Fabienne Schoutens, Cam Juha, James Gallagher and Ellodie Reid thanked coaches Brian, Dean, Sam and Cam for their work throughout the season, and Jane thanked Michelle and Peter, coaches of the junior squads, as well as Assistant Coaches Caitlin, Fabienne, Jasmine, Penny, Erin, Carissa, Emily and Tom.  The Committee and Team Managers were acknowledged and ‘The Bruce Cain Outstanding Contribution Award’ was given to Committee member Robyn Mihaly for her consistent and dedicated work for the club.

Emily Beecroft was congratulated for her success in Multi-Class swimming including the Paralympics in Rio and breaking the world record for her classification in the 50m butterfly.  Emily was awarded the ‘LaTrobe Financial Swimmer with a Disability Swimmer of the Year’ trophy as well as the ‘Meyer Trophy for highest FINA Points Score’ trophy.

The Top Ten Swimmers of the Club were named based on points accrued throughout the season with twelve year old Jordyn Cargill being awarded the Kathleen Froud Club Champion Trophy.

A further highlight of the night was the premier of the “Country DVD” produced by Nicole Moon.  The 30 min DVD captured the fun and success of the club at the 2017 Victorian Country Swimming Championships held in Sale in January.
